In the end of 2014, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) propagated the ―Made in China 2015‖ plan. In cooperation with the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and more than other 20 Ministries, MIIT jointly formulated the China Industry 4.0 roadmap, which promotes the development towards intelligent manufacturing, including design of intelligent plants, robots and automation based on O2O big data.

Machine identifiable and interchangeable information formats make intelligent manufacturing networks in digitalized factory come true. Information format doesn't simply mean secure, dependable, and flawless data flow, but it can be applied to more than one system (namely, ERP, PLM, MES, logistics and automatic production). To make it perfect, it should be applicable across companies and industries. eCl@ss provides a solid foundation for electronic product data exchange in Industry 4.0 implementations.
